Housing for adults with IDD is complex and there is not a one-size-fits all approach. We are using a person-centered model with different tiers of support that parents can choose from. From villages with a medical centre and a community centre to second storey six plexes, there is a range of options. If there is someone you know who is compatible with your loved one, please reach out to that parent and we will do our best to accommodate them.

  • Single-story, modular homes with open floor plans, allowing for easy mobility and freedom of movement.

  • Accessible bathrooms and kitchens with adjustable counters to accommodate wheelchairs.

  • Special lighting and security systems to help the individuals feel safe and to ensure that help can be easily requested in an emergency.

  • Other features like easy-to-use appliances and controls, ramps, and grab bars.

  • Each home should have a private outdoor space (patio, balcony with railing, or a small yard) to encourage relaxation and autonomy

  • Gated community to prevent wandering individuals from being lost.

  • Full time nurse on hand to administer medications

  • 2 live-in caregivers share a 4 bedroom house with 2 adults with IDD, ensuring the caregivers have a backup and a second set of eyes.
